Just 300 ft from the entrance gate to Petra, our hotel features spacious rooms with private balconies and flat-screen TVs. It also has a roof garden with a seasonal outdoor pool.  The soundproofed rooms and suites at Petra Moon come with satellite channels, a DVD player and extra-long beds. Each has air conditioning and a private bathroom.  Guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast in Hotel Petra Moon’s restaurant. Local and international meals are available for lunch and dinner. There is also a grocery store and a vending machine with drinks.

Day 1: Welcome to the Holy Land

After pickup at Ben Gurion International Airport by Lifetime Discovery staff, you will be whisked to the ancient seaport of Jaffa with its strong Christian community surrounding St. Peter’s Church.  Jump right in to Israel’s modern history at the Yitzhak Rabin Museum, and enjoy your first sunset in the Holy Land strolling along Tel Aviv’s newly renovated “Namal” (port) and seaside boardwalk, home to numerous shops and restaurants.

Day 2: Shoreline Destinations

Accomodation: Dan Panorama Hotel | Haifa

After a delicious Mediterranean breakfast, we will set out northward along the coastline, stopping first at the ancient ruins of Caesarea with its famous aqueducts and amphitheater.  We will then proceed to the ancient seaport of Acre where we will have lunch at one of its many fish eateries on the sea before visiting the Christian sites. The day will end in Haifa with a stop at the Stella Maris Church among others, Elijah’s Cave and the Bahai Gardens.

Day 3: Significant Sermons

Accomodation: Scots Hotel | Tiberius

Today we set out for three of the most important destinations in Christian history, Zippori, Nazareth and Tiberius.  Stops will include the Church of the Ascension, Tabgha and Capernaum on the Sea of Galilee. For these days in the Galilee, the sites where Jesus made the Miracle of the Loaves, gave his Sermon on the Mount and walked on water will be seen clearly in the inner eye.

Day 4: Galilee Baptism

Accomodation: Scots Hotel | Tiberius

Remaining in the Galilee, today is about water.  We will cross the Sea of Galilee in a boat similar to the type used in the time of Jesus, before ascending to the Mount of Beatitudes and Capernaum.  Before returning to Tiberius, we stop at Yardenit, a traditional baptism spot on the Jordan River.

Day 5: Archaeology and Samaritans

On Day Five we begin heading southward through the valleys toward Jerusalem.  With a stop at the UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site in Beit Shean, you will be able to see history and life as it was in previous millennium.  Stopping at the Inn of the Good Samaritan on the way, we arrive in the holy city of Jerusalem toward evening.  A walk on the ramparts is recommended for your evening program.

Day 6: The Holy City of Jerusalem

Jerusalem, with all the riches it offers to the traveler and pilgrim, is the menu for Day Six.  Begin at the Mt. of Olives and descend to the Garden of Gethsemane.  Explore the Old City of Jerusalem, walking the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. End the day on Mt. Zion, visiting its churches and the Cenacle.

Day 7: Desert History

Day Seven brings us to another UNESCO World Heritage site, the ancient fortress of Masada, the last stand of the Jewish Great Revolt in 73 A.D. After the climb (or cable-car) to the summit where so much history took place, we will return to the depths – below sea level for the fascinating and salty experience of the Dead Sea and to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, where springs and waterfalls are miraculously found in the midst of the desert.  Finish the day at the Qumran National Park, where the Essenes wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls.


Day 8: The Nativity and Book of the Shrine

This morning begins with a visit to the Israel Museum, home to many of Israel’s archaeological treasures, including the Shrine of the Book housing the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Continue to the city of Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus, and stop at the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field.  In the afternoon, fly south to Eilat and cross into Jordan at the Arava Crossing.  After a tour of the Red Sea resort of Aqaba, check into your hotel in Aqaba.

Day 9: Pearls of Petra

Accomodation: Petra Moon Hotel | Petra

After breakfast, travel to the ancient Nabatean city of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, made even more famous in the movie “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.”  Explore the vast structures and winding alleys, including lunch at the site.  In the evening, wander the exotic markets outside your hotel.


Day 10: Homeward Bound via Eilat

Cross back to Israel and spend the morning strolling along the sunny beaches of Eilat, relaxing on the famous Coral Beach or marveling at the exotic fish at the Underwater Observation Center / Aquarium (depending on your return flight) before flying from Eilat to the Ben Gurion Airport to catch your return flight home.
