  Lifetime Discovery invites you to spend two weeks for a 3-act play to see the classics in Greece and Israel and to connect them with a with a cruise.  A representative of our Greek Lifetime Discovery staff will welcome you at the Athens Airport and see to every detail of the trip from start to finish.  The first leg of the 3-pronged excursion is to spend 5 nights in Greece in Athens & the Pelion region, and seeing the classics that have made the country one of the most visited destination for antiquities.  You may connect by air or board a ship in Piraeus, spend a night  at sea on the glorious Mediterranean and disembark at Haifa  or Ashdod port before being greeted by the Israeli team of Lifetime Discovery who will whisk you to Jerusalem for the first of 6 fabulous days of  Israel discoveries from Banias in the north to the Dead Sea in the south before departing from Ben Gurion International Airport for your safe trip home.

Domotel Xenia Palace | Volos

With absolute respect to the cultural heritage of “Xenia” buildings that had been some of the most brilliant examples of Greek architecture in the 20th century, the hotel build in the 60’s is characteristic of the postwar modernism in Volos. It has been fully renovated, the services have been updated and the hotel has been transformed into a modern 5-star city and conventions resort for a relaxing Volos accommodation.  Pelion, according to the Greek mythology was the summer residence of Gods and the Centaurs’ homeland.

Bedouin Camp | Kfar HaNokdim

In the Kana`im valley which is in the Judean desert, between the city of Arad and ancient Masada, lies Kfar Hanokdim. It is a green oasis shaded by palm trees and crowned with biblically inspired gardens. Merely walking into Kfar Hanokdim reveals a picturesque scene. Bedouin tents comfortably fitted with colorful rugs and mattresses.

The David Intercontinental is a luxury Tel Aviv hotel near the beach with an outdoor pool (seasonal), spa and health/fitness center on the site. The hotel is perfectly located in Tel Aviv’s trendy, urban Neve Tzedek neighborhood with some of the best shopping and restaurants in the city, and near the business district of Tel Aviv.

Day 1: Athens by Night

Accomodation: King George Palace | Athens

At  Athens Airport you will be greeted by Lifetime Discovery staff who will deal with arrival details and insure your private transfer to your hotel.  In the early evening you will be picked up to enjoy Athens by Night and return around midnight.  If you arrive earlier we will go to have a pictorial walk through the special streets of Athens pedestrian area and the picturesque market with all its smells and tastes.

Day 2: Acropolis by Day and Cape Sounion Interlude

Accomodation: King George Palace | Athens

This is the day when you will be taken back to discover ancient times of Greece at their  peak and in full glory when taken on  an extended tour to the Acropolis and elsewhere in the city.  While sight-seeing you will stop for a scrumptious lunch in a typical Greek restaurant and, after a short rest, there is an afternoon tour to the exclusive resort of Cape Sounion and Poseidon’s Temple,  with an early evening return to the hotel.

 

Day 3: Pelion, Makrinitza & Volos

A trip along the coastal road brings you to the Pelion region, including Makrinitza which is a UNESCO made a World Heritage site.  Visit Volos, one of the nicest towns in Greece, set on the backdrop of the Pelion mountain, where we will stop at a nice coffee house for a break and you will discover the famed houses that are built like masterpieces of art, each an individual canvas.  Next we will head to the luxurious hotel on the beach in Volos, our evening destination.

Day 4: Magic of Meteora

Accomodation: Domotel Xenia Palace | Volos

After a delicious authentic Greek breakfast, you are invited to set out to see one of the most magnificent miracles of nature in all of Europe.  Meteora is a two-hour ride from Volos, where you will discover cliffs towering into the sky and the truly unique site .  We will visit two of the seven monasteries perched extraordinarily on the mountain’s cliffs.

 

Day 5: Delphi & Oracles

Accomodation: New Hotel | Athens

Delphi, the ancient oracle, is set against one of the most beautiful views of the Greek countryside where we will discover the beauty of Greece from another point of view.  After taking in all the history surrounding the most famous oracle of ancient Greece, you are invited to return to the specially designed hotel in Athens, making the overnight an experience in and of itself.

Day 6: Arrival & Off to Jerusalem

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport you will be greeted with a glass of wine by the Lifetime Discovery representative who is there to expedite arrival formalities before setting out to Jerusalem.  Spend your first few moments in the city of gold at the Haas Promenade before checking in to your hotel and acclimating to the magic of being in Israel.  Enjoy the “Sound and Light” at the Citadel  for your amazing first night in the Holy Land.

Day 7: Old City Jerusalem

After your Mediterranean breakfast, begin the day at the one-of-a-kind “Ir David” (City of David) taking you back 3000 years in the blink of an eye .  Continue with a guided walking tour to the Jewish Quarter where we will explore our 6 senses, including the Cardo Davidson Center archaeological park and of course the “Kotel” (Western Wall).  This extremely meaningful moment is followed by an exciting visit to the Western Wall Tunnels. We will walk part of the Via Dolorosa and before returning to the hotel for another overnight in the golden city, we will taste some of Jerusalem’s best pita with hummus & falafel.

Day 8: Desert & Dead Sea

We head south to climb Masada, the last stronghold against the Romans and deemed a World Heritage site by UNESCO.  A cable car assists in the expedition, but if someone wants to brave the steep climb, it’s doable.  Next is the fascinating walk through the Ein Gedi nature reserve before stepping into the famous Dead Sea,  at the lowest spot on earth for some relaxation, before heading to the Bedouin camp one of the most exciting experience of our tour with a real Bedouin dinner in tents.

 

Day 9: Beit Shean, Golan & Galilee

Picking up the trail of the Syrian-Africa Rift, we will head north through the Jordan Valley for Beit Shean to see its fascinating archaeological site.  Riding by jeep to the heights, the day will conclude with an unparalleled view of the Sea of Galilee a perfect spot for some memorable Pictures from the unique Peace Vista before hotel check-in on the Golan Heights for some chill out after a very colorful day.

 

Day 10: Bental, Banias & Back South

Wake up and set out to one of the most spectacular walks of the trip, the ancient fortress of Gamla.  After a stop at the Katzrin Visitors Center, take part in a wine tasting accompanied by some good cheese at the Golan Heights Winery.  Learn about wind turbines at Mt. Hazeka before climbing to see the now in-active volcano at Mt. Bental on the Syrian border, getting an insight to the complexity of the quest for peace.  After dining on Druse cuisine at the Massade Village, marvel at another miracle of nature at the Banias waterfall before heading south to the modern metropolis Tel Aviv where we will enjoy some great nightlife for those who did not pass out yet.

Day 11: About Town & Homeward Bound

Awake and enter the bustle of Old Jaffa and the popular “Shuk HaPishpashim” (flea market) before a walk through the gentrified neighborhood of Neve Tzedek.  Continue a stroll on Rothschild Boulevard, where we will have some fresh fruit shake while stopping at Independence Hall to see where the declaration of independence from the British was announced in 1948.  Then we will follow the boulevard passing the  site of the 2011 “tent-city” with a stop at the newly built Habima National Theatre.  After check-out,  enjoy an evening, “stop and shop” at “HaTachana” (The Station), the newly renovated Jaffa-Jerusalem Railway museum before being escorted to Ben Gurion International Airport for a safe trip home.
